Skipton launches its lowest ever 2-year fix
Skipton Building Society has launched its lowest ever two-year fixed rate mortgage for property purchases.
The rate is as low as 1.36% and it has a £995 arrangement fee.
Borrowers will need a 50% deposit to access this mortgage and if you are looking to remortgage, Skipton will increase the rate by 0.14%.
Aaron Strutt, product manager at Trinity Financial, says: “Skipton's rates are only marginally more expensive if you have a smaller deposit and they still offer interest-only. They can lend up to five times income if you have a good credit score and their maximum loan size is normally £1 million.
“The lenders have continued to lower their rates after the Christmas break and if you have a good deposit there are some fantastically low rates available.”
After the fixed rate period the mortgage reverts to the lenders standard variable rate, currently 4.99%. The APR is 4.7%.
