HMRC collects £470bn in taxes

HM Revenue and Customs collected £470bn in taxes in 2012-13, according to their Monthly and annual historical record report.

Over the last decade Income tax, Capital Gains Tax and National Insurance Contributions have made up on average 55% of total receipts. VAT and Corporation Tax are the next biggest, contributing an average 19% and 9% of total receipts respectively.
