Base rate held for 73rd consecutive month
The Bank of England Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) has voted to maintain base rate at 0.5% for the 73rd consecutive month.
Inflation dropped to zero per cent in February and the Bank of England said that it could fall into negative territory.
Earlier this week the Bank of England announced its 2015 plans to test the banks to see how they would cope with another economic crisis.
The aim is to check how the lenders would ‘absorb rather than amplify’ severe shocks and continue providing finance to the real economy.
