Bank of England keeps base rate at 0.5%

The Bank of England's Monetary Policy Committee has kept the base rate at 0.5 per cent for the 46th consecutive month. The last change was in March 2009. The committee has also voted not to extend quantitative easing beyond the existing £375bn provision. According to a report in the Daily Mail, investment bank Citi do not think that the Bank of England will raise rates until mid-2017. January 11, 2013
