Trinity Financial recently arranged a £600,000 mortgage for a British and Australian couple buying a £1 million home.

They had been living in the UK since 2019, but their income was more complex than usual.

The husband was a senior project manager working in Saudi Arabia, and he was paid in AUD$. His contract committed him to work for two months in Saudi and then return to the UK for two weeks.

Many banks and building societies do not like providing mortgages to borrowers paid in AUD$, primarily if they work overseas. However, they can be more flexible if a family member is going to live in the property.

How did we help?

Trinity's broker spoke to his clients for quite some time, explaining how the UK mortgage process works and what they need to do to qualify for a mortgage.

He found two lenders offering competitively priced rates to borrowers paid in AUD$, mainly working out of the country. One of the lenders was a private bank.

The mortgage was agreed following confirmation from the husband's employer, providing a reference confirming the agreement where he regularly returned to the UK.

We secured our clients a competitively priced five-year fixed rate with a £1,499 arrangement fee. The mortgage offer was produced within a week after the application was submitted.
