What is your standard variable rate?
Unlike the majority of tracker rate mortgages, a Standard Variable Rate (or SVR) is not linked to the Bank of England base rate.
The mortgage lender determines the SVR and it can change at any time.
If you are on a standard variable rate, there is a high chance you are repaying more money each month than necessary. There is a full list of mortgage lenders and the reversion rates below.
Aaron Strutt, product director at Trinity Financial, says: "Many of the banks and building societies are offering fantastically low fixed and tracker rates. They also generallyhave a range of product transfer mortgages.
"Many borrowers do not realise how easy it is to remortgage or how much competition there is between the lenders. They are pushing incredibly hard to attract new customers."
