Trinity Financial worked with This is Money to compile the data. It shows HSBC offering three times salary mortgages while Yorkshire Building Society offering up to 5.49 times salary.
Aaron Strutt, from mortgage broker Trinity Financial, told ThisisMoney.co.uk: 'If you walked along the high street and asked each lender how much you could borrow for a mortgage, you would probably get a different figure from each bank and building society.
'The vast majority of lenders use affordability calculators to work how much they will lend and the figures can vary by quite some margin. The more generous high street lenders offer couples up to five times salary mortgages, providing they have a clear credit history and limited personal debts.'
