The Times - Worried banks urge Kwasi Kwarteng to extend mortgage guarantees
Britain’s biggest lenders have called on Kwasi Kwarteng to extend a mortgage guarantee scheme amid fears high interest rates could cut first-time buyers out of the housing market.
Aaron Strutt, a broker at Trinity Financial, said: “Higher rates and tighter stress tests result in smaller mortgages and more expensive repayments, which is clearly not going to help most first-time buyers.”
