The Times - Cladding renders homes worthless
A story in The Times explains how property surveyors are valuing flats in blocks with cladding as worthless, even if the added panelling has been found to be safe.
Aaron Strutt, product director at Trinity Financial, told The Times: “There seems to be more pressure from the lenders to make sure the fire regulations are in order before they agree a mortgage.
“We recently had a case where the lender refused to provide a mortgage offer until their underwriters were confident that the correct fire regulations were in place. They even checked there was enough money in the sinking fund to fix the issues.”
