The Times - Why lenders are saying yes to more first-time buyers
The number of people getting on the housing ladder for the first time has reached a 12-year high.
According to UK Finance, a trade association, about 370,000 mortgages were given to first-time buyers last year, a 1.9 per cent increase on the year before.
Aaron Strutt of Trinity Financial told The Times: “First-time buyers are filling the void left by the demise of the buy-to-let market and helping lenders to hit their targets.”
