RBS to close 44 branches

Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) has announced it is going to close 44 branches across the UK. Many of RBS’s customers in the Scottish communities affected by the closures will be serviced by mobile banking vans. However, they will continue to get services through the Post Office or cash machines. RBS has around 2,000 branches, although 314 of them will be rebranded to Williams & Glyn as part of a sell off led by a group of investors. Late last month Clydesdale and Yorkshire Bank said that they were going to close 28 of their branches across the country. This is part of a £45 million plan to reduce and restructure costs.
