The Times - Portfolio Therapy - Is it worth ending my mortgage deal early?
Two years ago Leon Burdett, 40, and his family escaped from the rat race and headed to Cornwall.
He wrote into The Times to ask for help to work out if his two mortgages with First Direct could be refinanced to get a cheaper deal.
Aaron Strutt from Trinity Financial told The Times: “It is not necessary to consolidate loans and have one direct debit, especially if there are ERCs attached. Bringing the LTV ratio down is the key to getting the best rates when Leon’s five-year fix expires.
“The second-charge market has improved over the past few years as rates and arrangement fees have reduced.”
