Nationwide Building Society has lowered all of their 10% deposit fixed and tracker mortgages by 0.3%, but still remains undecided about joining the latest stage of the Help to Buy scheme.

There are lots of mortgage lenders offering 10% mortgages at the moment and Nationwide Building Society has one of the lowest two-year fixes at 3.99%. This mortgage has a £999 arrangement fee, although it is lowered to £499 for first-time buyers.

Aaron Strutt, product manager at Trinity Financial, told the BBC: “The Help to Buy scheme has really prompted the lenders into offering better first-time buyer mortgages and lower deposit rates are still getting more competitively priced.”
