More than three quarters of mortgage brokers are doubtful of an increase in base rate before the end of the year.

A recent poll of 533 brokers conducted by Mortgage Strategy, shows just 22 per cent of brokers believe the Bank of England will rise base rate this year.

Trinity Financial product and communications manager Aaron Strutt says: “It’s unlikely we’ll see an increase before the end of this year. It’s also important to remember that the election next year will play it’s own part in the decision, which of course doesn’t come until May 2015.”
